scraps - new life

Dearest Minions,

This week's less is more challenge is using up some scraps while creating a simple design. I used a piece of left over vellum which I then die cut using a memory box die cut used a HOTP sentiment and hurrah have welcome to the family card. I know it is blue but I think I could send this regardless of sex or number of legs. The vellum was a pain to stick down esp. the doe bum and I was thinking of an end of the day conversation "what did you do today?" "I had problems with glossy accents and a doe's backside and you?"

I am also entering this into the the wonderful ink on my fingers life challenge this week. This is a wonderful blog inspiring and chatty.

Speaking of life there an amazing article on deep sea life on the BBC website, do have a look.

hard rock hangers

Dearest Minions

here is my entry to this week's Tuesday taggers challenge which is to use acetate and the all sorts challenge anything goes. I have these to window hangers from my shed as it was dull and if you are going to be a evil witch you need a funky shed, it is the law.

for the rock and roll one - stamps used inkadinko rock and then two cog die cuts used for the frames.
for the girly one below - stamps used - tanda and the circle die cuts for the frames are nesties.

I stamped the image first  then I sprayed the acetate with cosmic shimmer after coating it in glue. Then let is dry and ta da shimmering transparent film.

Promenade in the haunted trees

Dearest Minions

This is my entry to the Macabre Monday Garden of Good and Evil is is called "Promenade in the Haunted trees." The background is an old book page gessoed and then stamped with a tree image, then it was scanned in and the creepy children, ravishing Madame and the good sir raven strolled/flew in. (via Itkulpilli's site) I have printed a copy of this and have it above my desk I love the layering and the stories that seem to come out of this - who are they? what are they? do they come alive at night and hide things or am I just messy?

I am also entering this into this week's Inspiration Avenue -texture challenge as I love the sharpe digital images against the texture of the gessoed book page.

raise glass to Isadora Duncan

Dearest Minions,

Sadly some days you need to hack and squeeze things and when I feel this urge I turn to my beloved cuttlebug.

This is my entry to the less is more challenge this week which is die cuts and punches. The die cut used is tree by memory box, it is so adaptable but it is so fiddly and often doesn't cut clearly- so tips and advice on this would be greatly appreciated. The sentiment is from some scrapbook paper and it is from Isadora Duncan who is sadly remembered for her death and long scarfs rather than her immense dancing talent. So let us raise a glass to one of the pioneers of modern dance.

Romeo tag

Dearest Minions,

Due to the time of the year when birds/animals/flowers/ humans/Daleks all start feeling fruity here is my Romeo tag. Hopefully it would smell as sweet by any other name. I am entering this into the Tuesday taggers -hearts and flowers challenge, Simon Says stamp - tag it and the fashionable stamping challenge which is monochrome with one other colour.

The tag is made with Tim Holtz urban snapshot stamp, stamped in blue jean distress ink and coloured in blue fleximarkers and promarkers  with heart in crimson. The flowering grasses stamp is by fancy pants and is stamped in azure and the lavender stamp is by Lavina stamps in baby blue.

Annabel Lee

Dearest Minions,

I was honoured to be in the top 3 of Quoth the Raven for the last challenge and this is my take on the latest challenge Annabel Lee this image relates to the lines

"In the sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea."

The female figure is Maud Fealey and the seaweed photo was taken by moi in Falmouth.

Dearest minions,

Here is my entry to the less is more challenge -Aqua and also the crafty individuals challenge spring.
this is the weather outside my house at the moment, now you can see why the sentiment is imagine spring. The card was such a pain to photograph as it was so pale but it is pretty and a step outside my usual style.

poe tarrot

Dearest Minions,

I have just joined a rather good challenge site which is centred around the laugh a minute Edgar Allen Poe, Quoth The Raven Nevermore. As I am partical to Poe (but my heart and possibly a pickled brain belong to Lovecraft) So here is my entry for this fortnight's challenge which must feature the visage of the great author. I love the tarot cards symbols and I thought that this one was rather fitting. Sorry not sure which free image site I downloaded the card off, might have been vintage images, sorry. But back to the picture I think that it is suitably creepy and the sentiment goes with eyes peeping out of the masked holes. I can practically hear a MMMWHHAHaa in the background.
